itouch apps roundup
Image by nedward.org via Flickr Another reason I have been gone is because I got an iTouch. I have gone through a lot of apps and would like to post my favorites. Note that these will require the 2.0 software update on itunes.
This is just a list of my favorite apps, in no particular order [yes, twitterrific is at the top for a reason :D]
Twitterrific - post to twitter from anywhere with your itouch/iphone. Twitterrific has a great interface and has some great features.
Terminal - available through cydia (you must jailbreak your itouch/iphone to get it) it allows you to do all your network administrating from anywhere you want.
Mocha vnc - it is a vnc client for your itouch/iphone that allows you to access any vnc server right from your itouch, now this has many uses (especially if you REALLY need flash) but we think we will use it the most to email ourselves things we forgot to at an earlier time. You know that document sitting on your desktop you were suppose to send your boss this morning, the one that is named “send to boss.docx” that you didn’t send? Well you can send it to him using your itouch right before that important meeting he needs to have it in.
Evernote - Probably more useful on the iphone than on the itouch, it lets you submit pictures to the online note service evernote, that can detect text in an image and you can search it. We think this would be really useful for taking a picture of a business card, so you can search it later.
Palringo - IM on your itouch using all the major protocols, including gtalk, msn, and yahoo, as well as some other ones too. it doesn’t support landscape mode yet, but it still has a pretty good interface.
Zenbe lists - There are a ton of list apps on the app store, and of all the ones we tried, zenbe was our favorite, with an easy to use interface, the ability to sync it with a webapp and share specific lists with your friends or co-workers. It supports deadlines, done and not done, and landscape mode [yay].
deblob - this is a fun game that you have to see to understand.
quake 3 - not available yet, but there are demonstrations of it on youtube and on hermitworks.blogspot.com
