flickr founders leave Yahoo

Yahoo Inc. said Wednesday the co-founders of its photo-sharing Web site Flickr are leaving the company.

The husband-and-wife team of Caterina Fake and Stewart Butterfield sold Flickr to Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO) in 2005. Fake’s last day was June 13; Butterfield’s last day is expected to be July 12.

Yahoo added video technology to Flickr in April, which lets users share short video clips.

Despite the recent flurry of departures from Yahoo, a sales executive from the company said at a William Blair conference on Tuesday that the company is hiring aggressively.
